UK drafts guidance for Ofgem on electricity network growth

The UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has published draft social and environmental guidance to the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (GEMA) on delivering growth through electricity networks.

• The draft guidance is intended to ensure Ofgem can support electricity networks to enable growth in a way consistent with its objectives, duties, and functions.
• The document is still draft and is scheduled to come into effect on 17 November 2026 after a 40-day consideration period; an explanatory memorandum was added on 18 September 2026.
