Vulcanesti–Chisinau power line energisation planned for June 2026

State Secretary Carolina Novac announced that installation works on the Vulcanesti–Chisinau power line are to be completed by the end of May and energization is planned for June 2026.

- Project details and financing: The Vulcanesti–Chisinau overhead power line is ~157 km long, connects a 400 kV Vulcanesti Substation with a 330 kV Chisinau Substation, with transmission capacity up to 630 MVA (covering >50% of Moldova’s peak consumption). The work is implemented by the Energy Ministry and UCIPE, beneficiary Moldelectrica, and is part of the Moldova Power System Development Project financed by the World Bank Group (total project value ~€61 million, ~€27 million for the power line).
