UK imposes definitive anti-dumping duty on Chinese fibre

The UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade has imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on optical fibre cables originating in the People’s Republic of China, following a recommendation from the Trade Remedies Authority.

• Definitive measure: Trade remedies notice 2023/22 establishes a definitive anti-dumping duty on Chinese optical fibre cables, implemented under s.13(2) and paragraph 20(5)(a) of Schedule 4 of the Taxation (Cross-border Trade) Act 2018, effective from 24 October 2023, superseding provisional taxation notice 2023/12.
• Subsequent updates: On 22 December 2025, additional codes in Table 1 were updated to ensure consistency across anti-dumping and countervailing duties; the page was first published 10 July 2023 and later updated 23 October 2023 to reflect the definitive measure coming into force.
