UK–Southeast Asia Tech Week 2026 strengthens UK–Malaysia tech collaboration

The United Kingdom has announced UK–Southeast Asia Tech Week 2026 to reinforce digital and technology collaboration with Malaysia and the wider region.

• Event details: UK–Southeast Asia Tech Week 2026 will be held in Kuala Lumpur from 11 to 13 February; organised by the UK Government in partnership with MDEC, BMCC and HSBC Malaysia; the three-day programme brings together UK technology companies, Malaysian policymakers, regulators, investors and industry leaders to explore collaboration across artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, fintech, and sustainable data centers. The event also launched the ASEAN-UK TradeTech Lookbook as a practical tool for governments and companies across Southeast Asia.
• Participants and metrics: The programme features 10 UK companies specialising in AI, cybersecurity and cloud/data technology; UK partners and delegates claim collective employment of over 30,000 people worldwide and a combined valuation of more than £100 billion, anchored by investments from Arm, and unicorns like Revolut and Darktrace; scale-ups and deep-tech SMEs cited represent over £360 million in enterprise value. The event references potential follow-on work including a possible bilateral Digital Trade Agreement and aligns with Malaysia’s 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).
