Panattoni is asking the State of Michigan for permission to fill 13.55 acres of wetlands at the Google-backed Project Cannoli campus in Van Buren Township. The campus is being developed as an approximately 1 gigawatt data center on a 282-acre site near I-94 and Haggerty Road. Wetland permitting now sits with Michigan’s EGLE, with a Wayne County permit to follow if the state approves. Local power and tax approvals have already moved: a dedicated substation was approved on May 14, 2026 and the township board signed off on a tax incentive on May 21, 2026.
