CNMC opens sanctions case against Lyntia Networks

CNMC · November 05, 2026 · ✓ verified

The CNMC has opened a sanctions proceeding against Lyntia Networks over an alleged breach of commitments tied to its 2019 acquisition of dark fiber rights from Iberdrola.

  • On 5 November 2026, the CNMC announced the incoación de expediente sancionador in case SNC/DC/136/26 after finding possible non-compliance with commitments linked to VC/1031/19 and C/1031/19.
  • The commitments from the 30 July 2019 authorization required Lyntia to provide information and documentation to the CNMC, including annual reports and documents on unanswered requests and terminated or renewed contracts; the CNMC said Lyntia failed to comply with the timing and content of some reports. Lyntia has appealed the 2026 non-compliance ruling before the Audiencia Nacional, and the new proceeding has a maximum three-month investigation and resolution period.
