Samsung Heavy Industries signs MOU for FSMR platform

Samsung Heavy Industries has announced a memorandum of understanding with Sargent & Lundy to jointly develop and commercialize a technology-agnostic floating small modular reactor (FSMR) standard platform.

• SHI and Sargent & Lundy will collaborate on standard plant development, licensing support, construction planning, and marine deployment strategy for the FSMR platform.
• The companies say the work aims to advance the project from conceptual design completed in 2025 toward commercial deployment in the U.S. marine nuclear power market and align with evolving international and U.S. regulatory frameworks.
