Synergy says U.S. data center capacity will double

Synergy Research Group has announced that U.S. data center capacity is expected to double over the next three years, based on its latest market data.
- The firm says its known pipeline includes almost 1,500 future large data centers worldwide, with almost half in the U.S., representing about 45 gigawatts of IT capacity to be added by 74 companies.
- Synergy says hyperscale operators will drive most of the growth, with U.S. owned data center operational capacity set to double in two years; it also cites seven hyperscale companies building U.S. AI campuses and another 67 companies building large data centers or campuses.
